The challenge

A six-person team manually processed thousands of supplier documents weekly in dozens of formats and languages. Keying errors caused payment delays, supplier disputes and a slow month-end close.

Strategy

We focused on straight-through processing with safety: automate the confident majority, route exceptions to people with everything they need and never post unvalidated data to the ERP.

Implementation

Documents arrive by email or supplier portal and are classified automatically. Layout-aware OCR and language models extract headers and line items, which are validated against purchase orders, tax rules and totals. Low-confidence fields appear in a review interface with the source highlighted.
